Christopher Yuan is a son of Chinese immigrants who felt different at a young age. When he was 9 years old, he watched pornography. That is when he thought that he is different from all other boys. He kept silent for many years and finally concluded that he is a gay and started going to gay bars.
He definitely told about this to his parents and the news was heartbreaking to them. They were devastated and were full of sorrow. Christopher continued going to gay bars and was addicted to drugs.
His parents prayed for him with faith. Missing more classes everyday, Christopher was expelled out of school. He went deeper and deeper into homosexuality and drug abuse. But one day, 12 federal agents have witnessed 9.11 tons ofChristopher was put in jail. What caught his attention there was a Gideon’s bible found in a trash can. “For the very first time, I opened up that good book. As I was reading it, I was really convicted of my rebellion, not only against the law, but also against God ”, he said.
Christopher discovered his mistakes and consequences the moment he was told he is HIV+. He was broken and then he saw something written on his ceiling, that said,” If you’re bored, read Jeremiah 29:11″. He immediately opened his Bible and the scripture said,”For I know the plans that I have for you, declares the Lord. Plans to prosper you and not to harm you.”
That was his turning point and he surrendered his life to Christ. Though he lived in bars for years, that was the time his relationship grew deeper and deeper with Jesus. He was released from the jail after the service of his sentence.
Christopher is now an instructor at Moody Bible College, Chicago and he no longer lives a life of a gay, but lives a holy life each day, with a purpose as God said,” Be holy, For I am Holy”.
